Employee Health Fairs
Safety Recruitment Australia can organise a range of onsite health screening services for your employees.  Health Fairs or health wellness programs are fast becoming popular with companies offering them as an employee benefit.  Health wellness programs can be customised to suit your organisation and are a great way to show that your organisation cares about the general health and wellbeing of your employees.  An example of basic services your program could offer:

Ø       Basic health questionnaire;

Ø       Blood pressure checked;

Ø       Height and weight to calculate Body Mass Index (BMI);

Ø       Waist circumference measurements;

Ø       Vision screening (short, long and colour vision);

Ø       Confidential general health advice and information which could include topics such as heart disease, cancer awareness, smoking and alcohol consumption, diabetes, coping with stress and anxiety, and depression.

Your program can be as basic or complex as required for your business. Other more complex services that could be incorporated into your program include:

Ø       Spirometry (lung function screening);

Ø       Audiometry screening;

Ø       Flu vaccinations;

Ø       Drug screening.

Benefits

Onsite health screening provides employees with invaluable information and education about the status of their health.  The benefits from onsite health screening include:

Ø       early detection of illness;

Ø       improved performance:  healthy employees are happier employees who have more energy;

Ø       can be seen as an employee benefit, showing employees the company cares about their wellbeing;

Ø       helps to reduce stress and absenteeism;

Ø       leads to longer employee retention;

Ø       increase morale;

Vision Screening
Vision screening should be undertaken annually especially for employees who have end stage QA tasks. A qualified Occupational Health Nurse will check your employees near and distance vision and also check for red/green colour deficiencies. All screening is done against recognised standards Ishihara’s Tests for Colour Deficiency, distance vision Snellens chart and near vision N-Series Chart approved by the Faculty of Opthalmologists. Sometimes called for is an ocular co-ordination test and this is tested using the Maddox Wing.

Spirometry
A spirometry test will measure the amount of air in the lungs and the amount a person can breathe out in one second. This will help to determine how the lungs are functioning.
