About this Course
Previously known as Senior First Aid Workplace level 2, this course is V.E.T.A.B accredited as part of the Health Training package 07. The course is designed to teach participants the fundamental skills and knowledge required to provide first aid in treating injuries and illness in the workplace.
Who Should Attend?
This course is designed for industry employees who are required to hold a first aid qualification (such as Senior First Aid).
Course Content
The APPLY FIRST AID course covers the following topics:
- Principles of First aid
- Priorities of First aid
- Approach to an incident
- Airway and Breathing management
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation with Automated external defibrillator (AED)
- Management of the unconscious patient
- The secondary survey (Examination of a patient)
- Medical Emergencies
- Trauma Injuries
Assessment
Competency will be assessed through the participant’s demonstration of practical skills and theoretical exam.
Prerequisites
The current industry standard is for this course to be updated every three years, with the CPR component updated every 12 months once completed.
Qualification
On successful completion of this course participants will be awarded with a Statement of Attainment from the National Health Training Package 07.
The unit of competency for this course is HLTFA301B – APPLY FIRST AID.
Course Delivery
► One Day (Full Course) - this course is designed to enable participants that do not have a current Senior First Aid statement of attainment to complete a workbook prior to attending the one day practical workshop (7hrs). A hard copy of the workbook will be sent to the participant one week prior to their course to be completed and returned on the day of your course.
► One Day (Refresher Course) - this course is designed to enable participants that have a current Senior First Aid statement of attainment to be reaccredited by attending the one day practical workshop (7hrs). No workbook to be completed.
Minimum numbers apply to all first aid training courses and are designed to be conducted onsite at your workplace.
